Introduction
A one-day course for existing MiDAS Driver Assessor Trainers (DATs) and Passenger Assistant Trainers (PATs) to obtain the skills and certification required to deliver the new safety evacuation training to those in their own and other organisations. This special course will certify DATs/PATs to deliver all of the new ‘Five steps to safety’ module in the MiDAS programme. It is an opportunity for DATs/PATs to enhance their skills, the range of their training and their income earning opportunities. Certification requires attendance at all five sessions (A to E).
Programme timing and content

The day will comprise sessions 12A to 12E and run from 09:30 to 15:45
The programme for the day will include:
- Five Steps to Safety presentation
- Vehicle evacuation demonstration
- Trainer’s practical assessment
- Delivering the training
- Theory assessment
At the end of the course the trainer will be able to train drivers and passenger assistants in the following:
- How to recognise common causes of fire
- How to reduce the risk of vehicle fires starting
- When and how to use a fire extinguisher
- How to safely evacuate a vehicle using 5 STEPS to Safety
