Threat to section 19/22 permits

Many organisations that operate using section 19 and section 22 permits may have heard that there has been a change in guidance issued by the Department for Transport (DfT).  In a letter issued to all section 19 and 22 permit issuing bodies the DfT outlined the reasoning for the change to their guidance and have announced a public consultation in the autumn which will set out the detailed changes which they say are required in order to update current guidance, together with proposed amendments to the Transport Act 1985 and derogations set out in EU Regulations 1071/2009 (which establishes common rules concerning the conditions to be complied with to pursue the occupation of road transport operator).

Our Chief Executive, Bill Freeman, has written a blog explaining CTA's reaction to the DfT's letter, this has been sent to all CTA members.  If, as a member of the CTA, you haven't received Bill's email please let us know so that we can ensure that you are on our mailing list.

If you have any concerns after reading the contents of the DfT's letter, please email these concerns to buses@dft.gsi.gov.uk and copy the CTA in at hello@ctauk.org.
